MINUTES Page 13 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-June 16, 2008 <br />Public Comments: <br />Barry Luboviski, Building Trades Construction Council, addressed the <br />City Council, raising a concern that during the early negotiations with the <br />developer, there be very clear language in the Exclusive Negotiating <br />Agreement, which sets the parameters for the Development Disposition <br />Agreement. Mr. Luboviski expressed interest in including instructions for <br />labor standards that ensure labor harmony. <br />End of Public Comments <br />By consensus, the City Council approved this recommendation <br />regarding the selection of a master developer of the Shoreline-Marina <br />Area. <br />12. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />Councilmember Gregory commented that he attended the Flag Day event; the dedication of <br />Bancroft Middle School playing field in honor of Bob Williams, at which Councilmember <br />Grant made some stirring comments; and Bridge Housing's 25th Birthday Party. He <br />commented that he was appointed to a planning board for Supervisor Lai-Bitker's health <br />initiative, which is pursuing a grant from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to address <br />health disparities in Southern Alameda County. He commented on proposed State legislation <br />that would require large restaurant chains to list calorie contents on their menus. <br />Councilmember Gregory suggested the Council consider similar local legislation. <br />Councilmember Grant commented on the Oakland-San Leandro Working Together <br />partnership, which sponsored a Juneteenth celebration at Foothill Square. She attended the <br />Boys & Girls Club celebration at Bayfair, the San Leandro High School SLAM Film Festival <br />at Zocalo Coffeehouse, and the Bridge Housing 25th Anniversary. Councilmember Grant <br />commented on the ACAP program at Bayfair, which trains young people to be ambassadors <br />for the Center, and offers them job training and placement. She noted that it developed out of <br />an effort to find productive ways for young people to interact positively with local merchants. <br />Councilmember Souza praised the ACAP program, and suggested to the City Manager that <br />the students be given a tour of City Hall, to learn about job opportunities in City government. <br />She attended the dedication of Bancroft field in honor of Bob Williams, who was one of her <br />Leadership San Leandro classmates. Councilmember Souza commented that she visited the <br />San Leandro Family Aquatics Center, which continues to be a big draw, and she attended the <br />Employee Barbecue. She acknowledged the San Lorenzo Unified School District for their <br />receipt of a large asset grant. <br />Councilmember Starosciak commented that she attended the Flag Day ceremony and the <br />Bridge Housing 25th Anniversary dinner. Councilmember Starosciak announced that she will <br />be holding her annual Security Summit this week. The Summit will focus on the 4th of July <br />and how residents can assist the Police Department by taking preventive measures. She <br />
