CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order at 7:10 p.m. <br /> <br />A. Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag <br /> <br />Mayor Santos led the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />B. Roll Call <br /> <br />PRESENT: Members Grant, Gregory, Prola, Souza, Starosciak, Stephens; <br />Mayor Santos <br /> <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> <br /> 2. PRESENTATIONS/RECOGNITIONS <br /> <br />A. Presentation of a Certificate of Appreciation to AC Transit Commending the Agency for <br />Its Sponsorship of the 2008 San Leandro Cherry Festival. <br /> <br />AC Transit District Ward 4 Director Rocky Fernandez accepted the Certificate of <br />Appreciation presented by Mayor Santos. <br /> <br />By consensus of the City Council, the following item was added to the agenda: <br /> <br />B. Presentation by Barbara Bernstein, Executive Director of Eden I&R, Inc., of 2-1-1 <br />Alameda County. <br /> <br />Ms. Bernstein gave a presentation on the 2-1-1 system, the phone system which <br />provides access to information on health, housing and human services in multiple <br />languages to residents of Alameda County. Ms. Bernstein provided copies to the <br />Council of the 2-1-1 Annual Report, and gave a brief summary of the report. She <br />expressed appreciation to San Leandro officials for garnering support for the system. <br />Ms. Bernstein provided refrigerator magnets printed with 2-1-1 information to the <br />Council to distribute to members of the community. State and federal funding are being <br />sought to leverage ongoing funding for the system, and to ease the financial burden at <br />the local level. <br /> <br /> <br />
