AMENDMENT OF CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />City Councilmembers or staff have an opportunity at this time to request that an item be <br />removed from the Consent Calendar for the presentation of a staff report or other special <br />consideration. Members of the Public may request the opportunity to address the City <br />Council regarding items remaining on the Consent Calendar by filling out a speaker card and <br />submitting it to the City Clerk prior to the calling of Item 7, Amendment of Consent <br />Calendar. Items remaining on the Consent Calendar will be considered for approval under <br />one motion. <br /> <br />Councilmember Starosciak commented on Item 8.K., the rejection of bids for the I- <br />880/Washington Avenue Interchange Improvements. She requested that Mayor Santos <br />discuss with the ACTIA Board the difficulty experienced by the City in following <br />process and meeting its requirements. <br />Mayor Santos commented on the need for ACTIA to change its process. <br />Councilmember Souza suggested looking into the use of RDA funds for the I- <br />880/Washington Interchange project. On Item 8.D., she asked how the City Council could <br />have input on the Redevelopment Area project list. Regarding Item 8.L., Councilmember <br />Souza suggested that it would be a good practice, and would show respect for the public trust, <br />to have a competitive bid process for legal services. She expressed confidence that Meyers <br />Nave provides good service to the City, and would offer a competitive bid. <br />Mayor Santos commented that he performed an independent analysis of City Attorney <br />services in 2002, and he concluded that the City was getting the best deal from Meyers Nave. <br />Vice Mayor Stephens pointed out the benefits of continuity with Meyers Nave, due to their <br />knowledge of the history of San Leandro and its policies and practices. <br /> <br />No amendment to Consent Calendar. <br /> <br /> <br /> 8. CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />Consent Calendar items are considered for approval by the City Council with one single <br />action. As described above in Item 7, Amendment of Consent Calendar, the City Council <br />may remove items from the Consent Calendar for purposes of presentation or discussion. <br />Members of the public who have requested to address the Council regarding items remaining <br />on the Consent Calendar may do so for up to 3 minutes per item with a maximum of 5 <br />minutes for all items. Items listed on the Consent Calendar are deemed to have been read by <br />title. <br /> <br />The items on the Consent Calendar were approved by the following vote: <br /> <br />M/S/C Stephens and Prola.
