CITY OF SAN LEANDRO and REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO STAFF REPORT DATE: TO: FROM: BY: October 20, 2008 APPROVED AND FORWARDED TO CITY COUNCIL/ REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY ~'~~--- tephen L. ollister Interim City Manager/ Executive Director Steve Hollister, Interim City ManagerBxecutive Director Luke Sims, Commu' Development Director Cynthia Battenber , usiness Development Manager Elmer Penaranda, Senior Development Specialist SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION: MATTER OF DISCONTINUATION OF THE WEST SAN LEANDRO/MACARTHUR BOULEVARD AND ALAMEDA COUNTY-CITY OF SAN LEANDRO REDEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEES AND THE FORMATION OF A NEW REDEVELOPMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION At its May, June and September 2008 meetings, the City Council Rules and Communications Committee discussed the discontinuation of the West San Leandro/MacArthur Boulevard (WSL) and Alameda County-City of San Leandro (Joint) Redevelopment Advisory Committees (RACs) and the formation of a new Redevelopment Advisory Committee that would provide input to all three project areas on a quarterly basis, as needed. The reformed RAC would be created to provide input on the development of the five-year implementation plan, including housing set- aside goals and objectives. The Rules and Communications Committee and staff recommend adoption of the following three Resolutions: 1. The Redevelopment Agency of the City of San Leandro to create a 10 member RAC to provide input to all of the Project areas (West San Leandro/MacArthur Boulevard, Alameda County-City of San Leandro, and Plaza). 2. The Redevelopment Agency of the City of San Leandro to discontinue the current WSL RAC and to repeal the original Resolutions that established them. 3. The City of San Leandro to dissolve the current Joint RAC and to repeal the original Resolutions that established them.
