DRAFT MINUTES <br /> Page 6 <br />October 6, 2008 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting <br /> <br /> <br />Heidi Klassen, San Leandro resident, <br /> addressed the City Council, encouraging the Council <br />to complete the competitive pool at the Washington Manor Aquatics Center. Ms. Klassen <br />commented that the pool would be an important City asset that would serve residents of all <br />ages. <br /> <br />Joseph Tan, 825 San Leandro Boulevard property owner <br />, addressed the City Council, <br />c <br />were hit by drunk drivers in the past month. Mr. Tan requested that the City provide some <br />traffic enforcement on San Leandro Boulevard, and possibly set up a DUI checkpoint. <br /> <br />Mrs. Robert Winkler, San Leandro resident <br />, addressed the City Council, commenting that <br />San Leandro residents have not been adequately informed of the adverse impacts of its Transit <br />Oriented Development Strategy. Mrs. Winkler commented that the diesel particulates from <br />train and truck traffic would result in adverse health effects to TOD residents. Mrs. Winkler <br />urged the Council to consult with a California air quality expert before allowing housing to be <br />developed in the TOD area. <br /> <br />Lou Filipovich, San Leandro resident, <br />addressed the City Council regarding the differences <br />in the representative structure of the two school districts in San Leandro and other election <br />related issues. <br /> <br />Charles Gilcrest, representing the Sausage and Suds Committee and the Chamber of <br />Commerce <br />, addressed the City Council, thanking the City Council for its sponsorship, <br />support and contributions to a successful Sausage and Suds event. <br /> <br /> <br /> 6. CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />Mr. Hollister responded to the issue raised by Mr. Tan, stating that the matter would be <br />referred to the Police Department for follow- <br />regarding air quality issues in the TOD area, Mr. Hollister reported that the air quality issues <br />were addressed in the Environmental Impact Report for the TOD Strategy. He also pointed to <br />the mandate for reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the recently enacted SB 375, and <br />Breathe California. <br /> <br /> <br /> 7. AMENDMENT OF CONSENT CALENDAR <br /> <br />City Councilmembers or staff have an opportunity at this time to request that an item be <br />removed from the Consent Calendar for the presentation of a staff report or other special <br />consideration. Members of the Public may request the opportunity to address the City <br />Council regarding items remaining on the Consent Calendar by filling out a speaker card and <br />submitting it to the City Clerk prior to the calling of Item 7, Amendment of Consent <br />Calendar. Items remaining on the Consent Calendar will be considered for approval under <br />one motion. <br /> <br />
