MINUTES Page 10 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting~ctober 6, 2008 <br />Councilmember Starosciak expressed appreciation to staff for providing the list in the <br />staff report of the activities the City has undertaken. She attended the 50~' Anniversary <br />of Marina Mechanical, at which the company showcased its new cold storage unit <br />technology. Councilmember Starosciak commented that the Congestion Management <br />Agency (CMA) now provides some of its board members with a meeting agenda packet <br />on a flash drive. <br />(Councilmember Stephens arrived at 8:36 p.m.) <br />Councilmember Prola suggested that when the streets are resurfaced, he would like to <br />see more bike lanes created. He also suggested that the City have more hybrid pool <br />vehicles, and offer discounted transit passes to its employees. <br />B. Public Works Department Annual Report. <br />Public Works Services Director Mike Bakaldin gave the history behind the Public <br />Works Annual Report, which is a video slideshow set to music. Mr. Bakaldin noted <br />that this year marks the completion of the department's three-year reorganization, which <br />maximizes the number staff "on the street," primarily in street paving and parks, <br />without additional cost to the City. <br />The Council viewed the third Annual Report, which highlighted the employees in each <br />division and their job responsibilities; aswell asthe department's new, retired and <br />promoted employees. <br />C. Report on Closed Session Actions Taken <br />No reportable action taken. <br />11. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS <br />A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies <br />Councilmember Souza reported that she attended the Fire Department's employee <br />recognition ceremony. <br />Councilmember Starosciak reported that she was elected the at-large director of the <br />LOCC East Bay Division along with Alameda Vice Mayor Lena Tam. She reported <br />that the new chair and vice chair of the CMA are Union City Mayor Mark Green and <br />Alameda Mayor Beverly Johnson, respectively. Councilmember Starosciak reported on <br />two project groundbreakings this month: the I-580/Redwood Road interchange and the <br />Ardenwood Park and Ride. <br />
