Mayor Santos introduced Mr. Norman Santos, who works in the Alameda County Probation <br />Department and develops programs for at-risk youth. Mr. Santos described the "Our Kids" <br />program from Hayward and Oakland, as well as the Safe Passages program from San Lorenzo. <br />The programs involve early intervention, intense supervision and coordinated services for <br />children. Mayor Santos stated that he had contacted Senator Boxer's office to seek grant funding <br />for San Leandro, He commented the need for school site programs. <br />6. Public Comments <br />Mr. Chris Regaro, from Boy Scouts of America, introduced himself and offered the use of the <br />Boy Scout facility for youth programs; he is hoping to start programs with the San Leandro <br />Police Department; he wants to market to the community and is asking for support and <br />opportunities to communicate with community members. <br />Ms. Carol Alvarez thanked Superintendent Lim and staff for the meeting regarding the pools; she <br />stated that kids need improved facilities and a San Leandro Sports Foundation is important. <br />7. Committee Member Comments <br />Board Member Cutter asked if copies of the meeting highlights could be sent to the board <br />members. <br />Board Member Hague stated that she was very encouraged by the meeting. <br />Council Member Grant commented that her district is very busy with many school and City <br />activities and building projects! <br />Superintendent Lim invited everyone to the groundbreaking event on October 23`d <br />8. Adjournment <br />There being no further business, Mayor Santos adjourned the meeting at 5:30 p.m. <br />
