• Alternative 1 -Rehabilitate the existing PSBs structurally and mechanically while considering the <br />addition of lamella plates to improve removal efficiencies. <br />• Alternative 2 -Replace the existing PSBs with a new 70-foot-diameter circular primary clarifier. <br />• Alternative 3 -Replace the existing PSBs with ahigh-rate clarification process like Actiflo to handle <br />peak wet weather flows. <br />• Alternative 4 -Abandon the existing PSBs and provide chemically enhanced primary treatment <br />(CEPT) for the two existing primary clarifiers. <br />The alternatives will be evaluated and compared based on site layout requirements, process performance <br />and reliability, operation and maintenance considerations, materials of construction, constructability, <br />chemical requirements, and cost. <br />Information and/or Services Provided by City: <br />• Available record drawings and specifications of past WPCP designs. <br />• Input on operation and maintenance requirements of existing primary sedimentation and <br />clarification processes. <br />• Input on configuration of predesign alternatives. <br />Consultant Deliverables: <br />• Figures showing site layout options. <br />• Summary table of alternatives comparison. <br />• Summary table of cost of alternatives. <br />• Draft TM (5 hard copies). <br />Task 1.9 -Secondary Treatment Process Evaluation. Consultant shall prepare a TM to evaluate the <br />secondary treatment process improvements, Alternatives to be evaluated include: <br />• Alternative 1 -Rehabilitate the existing fixed film reactor (FFR) and provide a second FFR. <br />• Alternative 2 -Rehabilitate the existing FFR and provide new aeration tank(s) that will incorporate a <br />mixed-use process that can enable the new aeration tank(s) to operate as either conventional <br />aeration tanks, contact stabilization tanks, or daily diurnal flow equalization tanks. <br />Consulting Services Agreement between Project No. 08-593-52-239 <br />City of San Leandro and Carollo Engineers, Inc.
