MINUTES Page 5
City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-November 17, 2008
Bancroft Middle School). (Moved to Item 9, Items Removed from Consent
Calendar.) (1123)
C. Resolution No. 2008-140, Resolution Initially Accepting Subdivision Improvement
Work for Tract 7810 at 1537 Hays Street; Assessor's Parcel No. 075-0012-007,
Owners: David Langon and Kathy Langon, Developer: Arbor Place Partners, LLC
(provides for initial acceptance of subdivision improvement work for six detached
single-family residences). (3097)
D. Matter of Ratification of the Composition of the Shoreline Citizens Advisory
Committee (Shoreline CAC) (creates a CAC and appoints members to provide input to
the City Council and the development team on development concepts for the Shoreline
Area).
• Minute Order No. 2008-026, Motion Ratifying the Appointment of the List
of Shoreline Development Citizens Advisory Committee (Shoreline CAC)
Members. (3127)
The City Council ratified the appointment of the list of Shoreline
Development Citizens Advisory Committee (Shoreline CAC) members.
9. ITEMS REMOVED FROM CONSENT CALENDAR
Public comments are limited to 3 minutes per speaker per item, subject to adjustment by the
Mayor.
8.B. Resolution Approving Endorsing San Leandro Safe Routes to School Campaign
(supports the Safe Routes to Schools Program in San Leandro and seeks partnership
with Alameda County to pilot the program in Roosevelt Elementary School and
Bancroft Middle School). (1123)
Councilmember Starosciak requested additional information on the program. Mr.
Hollister reported that this local program is one of many Safe Routes to Schools
Programs being implemented across the country, and would be piloted at Roosevelt
Elementary and Bancroft Middle Schools. The pilot would include education and
training to promote walking and bicycling to school, along with a follow up survey to
assess behavioral changes. Mr. Hollister commented that Councilmember Gregory has
been actively working with the two schools. He noted that this is primarily a school
activity, with minimal City staff time needed by Traffic Engineering and the Police
Department to provide input on the program.
Mayor Santos recalled that the Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority
(ACTIA) had allotted funding for local Safe Routes to Schools programs.
