CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br /> <br />thth <br />Councilmember Grant commented that the timing of the traffic signal at 138 and East 14 <br />Streets effectively regulates the flow of traffic. <br /> <br />Councilmember Starosciak commented that she and Mayor Santos interviewed the YAC <br />members for the Shoreline Development Citizens Advisory Committee. The three members <br />chosen were Tina Kuang, Victor Chen and Victoria Robles. Since the Council previously <br />approved the appointment of two members, an item will be brought to Council to approve the <br />third member. Councilmember Starosciak commented that it might be a good time to <br />consider combining the Planning Commission and Board of Zoning Adjustments. There was <br />consensus of the Council to refer the matter to the City Council Rules and Communications <br />Committee. <br /> <br />th <br />Councilmember Prola commented that he attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the 9 <br />Grade Academy; the Service Awards Dinner for City employees; and the Senior <br />Thanksgiving Luncheon. Councilmember Prola commented that he and his son volunteered <br />at San Leandro Community Church to serve Thanksgiving dinner to over 100 homeless <br />community members. He thanked the people who made the Thanksgiving events possible. <br />Councilmember Prola commented on a news article on the federal stimulus package that will <br />provide funding for transportation infrastructure projects, and suggested that the City be <br />poised to request funds. <br /> <br />Vice Mayor Stephens amed several of <br />ojects that can be considered for funding. <br /> <br />th <br />Councilmember Souza commented that she attended the 9 Grade Academy groundbreaking; <br />the San Leandro Hospital meeting; the Senior Thanksgiving Luncheon; and the Service <br />Awards Dinner. She inquired about the status of the updates to the Recreation and Parks <br />Commission (RAPC) ordinance, and the appointment of the San Lorenzo School District <br />Representative to the RAPC. <br /> <br />Mayor Santos commented that he attended the successful Senior Thanksgiving Luncheon. He <br />indicated that he would work hard to secure federal infrastructure funding for the City. <br />Mayor Santos gave a short summary on the San Leandro Hospital situation, and stated that <br />the San Leandro Hospital Board is in the process of forming a citizens advisory committee. <br />He asked if members of the Council might be interested in participating on the committee, <br />and indicated that Councilmember-elect Reed has expressed interest. Mayor Santos <br />commented that he would like to form a Measure WW ad hoc committee to identify and <br />prioritize potential projects. Councilmembers Starosciak, Souza and Gregory were appointed <br />to the ad hoc committee.
