IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />RESOLUTION N0.2008-143 (1055/3142) <br />RESOLUTION DECLARING RESULTS OF <br />SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD <br />ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2008 <br />Recitals <br />WHEREAS, a Special Municipal Election was held and conducted in the City of San Leandro on <br />Tuesday, the 4th of November, 2008, in consolidation with the Statewide General Election, as <br />required by the California Elections Code, the Charter of the City of San Leandro, and City of <br />San Leandro Municipal Code; and <br />WHEREAS, notice of said election was duly and regularly given as required by law, voting <br />precincts were properly established and election officers were duly and regularly appointed and <br />election supplies furnished, and in all respects said election was held and conducted, the votes <br />cast were received and canvassed, and the return thereof made, determined and declared in the <br />time, form and manner required by law regulating and controlling such elections; and <br />WHEREAS, the qualified electors, including absent voters, cast ballots at said election for City <br />Councilmember, District 2. <br />WHEREAS, at said election, the qualified electors, including absent voters, cast ballots at said <br />election upon the following proposed Measures: <br />Measure RR -UTILITY USER TAX REDUCTION AND FAIRNESS MEASURE. Shall an <br />ordinance be adopted to reduce the City of San Leandro's existing utility users' tax from 6% to <br />5.7% on telecommunications and video (cable-like) services; ensure that users of current and <br />future technologies be treated fairly; and preserve funding for general municipal services such as <br />police, maintenance of and improvements to city streets and sidewalks and graffiti removal? <br />Measure SS - 911 EMERGENCY COMMUNICATION SYSTEM ACCESS TAX MEASURE. <br />Shall the City of San Leandro, with no increase in rates, convert its existing 911 Emergency <br />Communication System Access Fee Ordinance into an Emergency Communication System <br />Access Tax, to insure that all future modifications to the tax rate structure require a vote of the <br />people rather than a vote of the Council, and to maintain enhanced 911 Emergency Services to <br />San Leandro residents? <br />Measure TT -POLICE SERVICES PARCEL TAX MEASURE. Shall the current level of police <br />protection services be maintained at a minimum of 94 sworn police officers by adoption of a <br />parcel tax in an annual amount of $48 for single-family residences, $24 per multi-family/mobile <br />home unit, $12 per thousand square feet for CommerciaUlndustrial, $10 per thousand square feet <br />
