MINUTES Page 10 City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-December 1, 2008 Councilmember Prola reported that he contributed $1,000 from his Community Empowerment Funds to the Davis Street Family Resource Center, and $1,000 to Building Futures with Women and Children. Councihnember Grant reported that she contributed $500 from her Community Empowerment Funds to Girls, Inc. for one of its school programs; $250 to Citizens for a Safer San Leandro for its pilot program, and $500 to the African American Business Council for its career awareness program at San Leandro High School. Mayor Santos reported that he contributed $250 from his Community Empowerment Funds to the Davis Street Family Resource Center. D. Reports on City Council Committees 1. Airport Committee Meeting of November 7, 2008. Accepted as submitted. 2. Business and Housing Development Committee Meeting of November 13, 2008. Accepted as revised. Councilmember Starosciak expressed concern about the designation of the two phases of the San Leandro Crossings project as "East" and "West". She commented on the longstanding history of east versus west in San Leandro. Councilmember Starosciak stated that having the affordable housing component referred to as San Leandro Crossings West underscores the perceived differences, and she suggested some alternate names. Councilmember Grant requested that the meeting Highlights be revised to reflect her absence from the meeting. Recommendation for City Council Consideration: a. Schedule approval of Commercial Rehabilitation loans of up to $32,000 for Bayfab Metals, $100,000 for 1717 Doolittle Drive, and $50,000 for Acoustical Material Services. By consensus, the City Council approved this recommendation. 3. Facilities and Transportation Committee Meeting of November 4, 2008. Accepted as submitted. 4. Shoreline-Marina Committee Meeting of November 18, 2008. Accepted as submitted.
