ALAMEDA COUNTY REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY - <br />SAN LEANDRO JOINT PROJECT AREA <br />NOTES TO BASIC FINANCIAL STATEMENTS <br />JUNE 30, 2008 <br />Fund Balances consist of reserved and unreserved amounts. Reserved fund balance <br />represents that portion of fund balance, which is not appropriable for expenditure or is <br />legally segregated for commercial and housing projects as required by the California <br />Health and Safety Code. The remaining portion is unreserved fund balance. <br />Pension Plan -All the Agency's employees are under the County's employment and <br />payroll processing system. All permanent Agency employees are eligible to participate <br />in the Alameda County Employee Retirement Association ("ACERA"), which is cost <br />sharing, multiple-employee deferred benefit pension plan. Necessary contributions to <br />pension plan for the period under audit were made at County level. The ACERA <br />pension plan funding status and actuarial information is included in the financial <br />statements of the County of Alameda, which can be obtained from the County of <br />Alameda Office of the Auditor-Controller, Oakland. <br />Retirement Benefit -Information regarding post employment benefits and post <br />employment benefits other than pensions (OPEB) can be found in the County's June <br />30, 2008 CAFR. A copy of that report may be obtained from the County of Alameda <br />Office of the Auditor-Controller, Oakland. <br />NOTE 2: CASH AND INVESTMENTS <br />Cash and investments as of June 30, 2008 are classified in the accompanying financial <br />statements as follows: <br />Cash and investments $ 17,713,863 <br />Total $ 17,713,863 <br />All the cash was deposited with the County Treasury. <br />Deposits <br />Custodial Credit Risk <br />The custodial credit risk for deposits is the risk that, in the event of the failure of a <br />depository financial institution, the Agency will not be able to recover deposits or will not <br />be able to recover collateral securities that are in the possession of an outside entity. <br />24 <br />
