Combs stated her- hope that the New Year will bring clarity on this <br />issue and that a feasible solution will be reached on the dog park. <br />Councilmember -Souza addressed Peggy Combs assuring her that the feasibility process that the <br />Recreation and Park Commission engaged in regarding the dog park was very worthwhile and <br />useful. The work was not done in vain. <br />Sabrina Almazan of Four Paws Society thanked Carolyn and the Recreation and Park <br />Commission for the work and time devoted to bringing a dog park to the City of San Leandro. <br />She stated that she is looking forward to clarification on the use of park impact fees as it relates <br />to a new dog park and will use this time to gather additional support for the park and to educate <br />the community on the need for a dog park. <br />A citizen asked if the sticking point for the dog park is really dollars. She went on to state that <br />until a piece of property is actually designated, no fundraising can be done for the dog park. <br />5. Committee Member Comments <br />Regarding the Safe Routes to Schools project, Councilmember Starosciak stated that Washington <br />Manor Middle School is eager to move forward with the project to install a new turn out. Uche <br />explained the Safe Routes to Schools funding process and that the turn out project at Washington <br />Manor Middle School is an improvement project. It would not be considered a Safe Routes to <br />School project and, therefore, ineligible to received this type of funding. <br />Councilmember Starosciak would like for the full Council to receive an update on the Estudillo- <br />Callan Parking Garage. <br />6.
