provide much needed homes, and critical services like childcare, for low-income working
families who currently face a Bay Area housing market that is becoming increasingly less
affordable. People who currently live and/or work in San Leandro, such as early education
providers, retail clerks, and custodial staff, will have more housing options through this proposal.
The City of San Leandro has the opportunity to approve a catalyst project that will set a high
standard for creating inclusive, walkable, vibrant neighborhoods in the Bay Area. The Crossings
proposal addresses many of the goals outlined in the Downtown TOD Strategy, and reflects the
community's needs for more affordable living and transportation options. The San Leandro
Crossings development will help to reduce traffic and greenhouse gas emissions while creating a
San Leandro that provides homes near transit for families of all income levels. TransForm urges
the City Council and Planning Commission to approve The San Leandro Crossings development
proposal.
Sincerely,
c~,,
Jeff Hobson, Deputy Director
CC: Lindsay Imai
