MINUTES <br />Page 3 <br />Ciry of San Leandro Ciry Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-February 17, 2009 <br />3. PUBLIC HEARINGS-CITY COUNCIL <br />Public Hearing Comments are limited to 5 minutes per speaker, subject to adjustment by the <br />Mayor. When you address the City Council, you should fill out a speaker card and submit it <br />to the City Clerk so the order of speakers may be determined and an official record of names <br />and addresses obtained. <br />None. <br />4. PUBLIC HEARINGS~TOINT CITY COUNCIL/ REDEVELOPMENT AGENCY <br />None. <br />5. PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Public Comments are limited to 3 minutes per speaker, subject to adjustment by the Mayor. <br />When you address the City Council, you should fill out a speaker card and submit it to the <br />City Clerk so the order of speakers may be determined and an official record of names and <br />addresses obtained. The public is invited to make comments on items of public interest NOT <br />listed on the Agenda. <br />Vince Rosato, San Leandro resident, addressed the City Council, commenting in opposition <br />to lifting the ban on chickens in residential areas. Mr. Rosato suggested that those wishing to <br />keep chickens in residential areas should obtain a business license, gain the consent of <br />adjacent neighbors, and comply with other regulations. <br />Gordon Galvan, Board Member, Davis Street Family Resource Center, addressed the <br />City Council, thanking the City Council Finance Committee for its recommendation to <br />allocate $500,000 in financial support for Davis Street's purchase of its Teagarden Street <br />facility. Mr. Galvan acknowledged the financial challenges facing the City, and the difficult <br />budgetary decisions that the Council must make to lead the community through these tough <br />times. <br />Rose Johnson, Executive Director, Davis Street Family Resource Center, addressed the <br />City Council, commenting that Davis Street serves the poor, disenfranchised and most <br />vulnerable citizens of the city. Ms. Johnson thanked the Council for considering Davis <br />Street's request for assistance with its Capital Campaign. <br />6. CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br />Mr. Hollister commented that, due to limited staff resources, consideration of changes to the <br />current regulations related to the keeping of chickens could not be immediately addressed. <br />
