MINUTES Page 12 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting-March 2, 2009 <br />The City Council directed staff to prepare a resolution committing $500,000 <br />of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) or other source of funding <br />to assist DSFRC in the acquisition of the property located at 3081 Teagarden <br />Street. <br />M/S/C Starosciak and Souza. Resolution No. 2009-005 RDA, Resolution of the Redevelopment Agency of the City <br />of San Leandro Authorizing the Executive Director to Enter into a Consulting Services <br />Agreement with Main Street Property Services, Inc. for Implementation of a 2009-10 <br />Marketing Plan (provides for development of a marketing plan for use in Downtown <br />San Leandro to complement the current Transit-Oriented Development [TOD] <br />Strategy). Cost: $93,061. (3107) <br />Business Development Manager Cynthia Battenberg gave a short PowerPoint <br />presentation on the Downtown Retail Strategy and the services provided by Main Street <br />Property Services. Ms. Battenberg described the 2007 and 2008 marketing goals and <br />accomplishments, and highlights of the 2009-10 Marketing Plan. <br />A motion was made by Councilmember Reed, seconded by Councilmember Prola, to <br />approve the resolution. Councilmember Reed commented on the need to continue Main <br />Street's Marketing Plan in order to attract businesses to San Leandro. <br />Councilmember Starosciak thanked staff for the presentation, and requested a copy of <br />the marketing brochure. She expressed interest in ensuring that more targeted <br />community outreach to residents is performed this year. <br />Councilmember Gregory thanked the staff for the fine work that is occurring downtown. <br />He hoped that improvements to the Scribner Center would be completed before the <br />Farmers Market gets underway, and noted that the Chamber's economic forum is <br />planned to start in June. <br />Councilmember Souza. requested that staff provide a periodic update from Main Street <br />on its general activities.
