DRAFT MINUTES <br /> Page 5 <br />April 20, 2009 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting <br /> <br /> <br />Katie Woodruff,San Leandro resident <br /> , addressed the City Council, commenting on the <br />importance of health to the overall vitality of the community, and urging the Council to keep <br />Farrelly Pool open this summer. <br /> <br />Doug Jones,SLCAN andSan Leandro resident, <br /> addressed the City Council, commenting <br />Council with handouts, which showed financial information for Sutter and the Eden and San <br />Leandro campuses, and a Memorandum of Understanding between the Eden Township <br />Hospital District, Eden Medical Center, and Sutter Health. <br /> <br />Richard Perkins, San Lorenzo resident <br />, addressed the City Council, commenting on the <br />importance of having a local urgent care facility. Mr. Perkins urged the Council to oppose the <br />closure of the urgent care center at San Leandro Hospital. <br /> <br />Robin Torello, San Leandro resident <br />, addressed the City Council, commenting on the <br />growth experienced by the City, and the impact of urban density on hospital use. Ms. Torello <br />urged the Council to support keeping the San Leandro Hospital urgent care center open. <br /> <br />Craig Williams, San Leandro resident, <br />addressed the City Council, urging the Council to <br />L <br />Leandro residents, requesting that Sutter Health and elected officials guarantee in writing that <br />there will not be a traffic jam on I-880 if they have a medical emergency. <br /> <br />Stephen Cassidy,San Leandro resident, <br /> addressed the City Council regarding the Sutter <br />to close the urgent care center at San Leandro Hospital. Mr. Cassidy urged the Council to <br />take a position of leadership on this issue. <br /> <br />Tim Holmes,San Leandro resident, <br /> addressed the City Council, providing copies to the <br />Council of an article in the San Francisco Bay Guardian <br />Mr. H <br />center open. <br /> <br /> <br /> 6. CITY MANAGER AND CITY ATTORNEY REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br /> <br />City Manager Hollister commented on the difficult budget reductions that the City must <br />make. He noted that the cuts to Farrelly Pool and library programs were recommended by the <br />affected departments, and that $250,000 is proposed to be restored to the Library. Mr. <br />Hollister reported that the City Council would be considering an action tonight to offer a <br />retirement incentive to certain employees, and he may recommend other strategies, such as <br />furloughs, to reduce personnel costs. <br /> <br />In response to the comments made about San Leandro Hospital, Mr. Hollister reported that he <br />has attended meetings, along with Mayor Santos and members of the Council, with members <br /> <br />
