PUBLIC COMMENTS <br />Public Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person, for a total time period of one <br />hour. When you address the City Council, you should fill out a speaker card and <br />submit it to the City Clerk so the order of speakers may be determined and an official <br />record of names and addresses obtained. The public is invited to make any comments <br />related to Agenda items, or other items of public interest, at this time. <br />A. Carey Walker, 471 Santa Monica, addressed the Council regarding potholes in <br />the streets, red light runners, and a traffic accident on December 1st at <br />Washington and Manor. He questioned police enforcement of the driver who hit <br />the pedestrian, noting he was not prosecuted. He added that he has still not <br />received a report regarding the repair of the railroad tracks on Merced between <br />Marina and Fairway. He concluded by remarking that a traffic light is still needed <br />in front of Nfission Bay Mobile Home Park. <br />S. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS AND COMMENTS <br />A. Reports on Intergovemmental Agencies <br />1. Council Member Loeffler reported on a recent Alameda County Congestion <br />Management Agency meeting. He noted he attended a Conference in <br />Livermore regarding possible ways to encourage different ways of travel by <br />pricing costs; i.e., HOV lanes or building private freeways in the East Bay. He <br />added that they discussed many concepts. <br />2. Mayor Young also noted that pricing "costs" provides information that <br />provides a means to inform people as to why they drive single-occupancy <br />vehicles. She reported further on a private highway in southern California <br />which pays for itself. She will provide more information to the Council as the <br />information is gathered. <br />B. Reports on City Council Committees <br />1. Joint City and San Leandro Unified School District and San Lorenzo Unified <br />School District Liaison Committee Meeting of January 5, 1999 -- Mayor <br />Young reported on the meeting highlights. <br />2. Facilities Committee Meeting of January 12, 1999 -- Council Member Glaze <br />reported on the meeting highlights. <br />3. Finance Committee Meeting of January 14, 1999 -- Mayor Young reported <br />on the meeting highlights. <br />
