~~ <br />.~ <br />Minutes -City of San Leandro City Council Meeting <br />January 19,1999 <br />Page 7 <br />E. An Ordinance Amending Title IV, Chapter 20, Section 100, of the San Leandro <br />Municipal Code Relating to Public Meetings, Assemblies and Parades (redefines <br />the term "Block Party" to facilitate changes in the City's policy regarding <br />insurance requirements for neighborhood block parties). <br />Kathy Ornelas gave the staff report and urged the Council to support the proposed <br />Ordinance. <br />Council discussion ensued regarding clarification relating to the process. Council <br />Member Loeffier clarified that barricades are available and are provided without <br />cost from the City. <br />Council Member Grant clarified that the permit processing fee is $28.00. <br />The following Ordinance was then introduced: <br />-- rdinance No. 99-03, An Ordinance Amending Title IV, Chapter 20, Section <br />100, of the San Leandro Municipal Code Relating to Public Meetings, <br />Assemblies and Parades (redefines the term "Block Party" to facilitate changes <br />in the City's policy regarding insurance requirements for neighborhood block <br />parties). <br />-- Passed to Print <br />(1413) <br />M/S/C Loeffler and Lothrop. Ayes: 6; Noes: 0; Absent: Galvan <br />F. Presentation by the Council for the Prevention of Drinking and Driving Regarding <br />Activities and Program Needs. <br />Dennis Glover, Police Lieutenant, introduced Harold Kitzmann and Julian <br />Polvorosa, who made the presentation regarding their activities and program <br />needs. They concluded by urging the Council to provide funding in the amount of <br />$5,000 to support their program. <br />Council Member Loeffler clarified that they are amulti-agency group which is <br />broad based and broadly funded. It was also noted they do not address the issue <br />of the success of the DARE program, but they do compliment each other. The <br />Council on Drinking and Driving currently targets 12th grade students. <br />The Mayor thanked them for their presentation and indicated their request for <br />funding will be forwarded to the Finance Committee. <br />G.
