Minutes -City of San Leandro City Council and Page 10 <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting -- May 17,1999 <br />Council Member Lothrop, referencing her attendance at the Open Studio event <br />over the weekend, commented that she would like the City Council to refer to <br />the Redevelopment and Economic Development Committee, the issue of <br />Live/Work Areas and/or Work Studios. <br />The following Motion was then introduced: <br />-- Minute Order No. 99-31, Matter of Live/Work Areas and/or Work <br />Studios. <br />The City Council referred the matter of Live/Work Areas and/or <br />Work Studios to the Economic Development and Redevelopment <br />Committee for review and recommendation. <br />MIS/C Lothrop and Loeffler . Ayes: 7; Noes: 0 <br />6. Mayor Young remarked that she and Council Member Grant have been <br />working with the U.S. Post Office for the last 6 months to a yeaz on <br />acquisition of the old Mosquelle Oil property. The hazardous materials <br />abatement is in process now. She noted the Post Office has decided to <br />purchase the property and keep their South Station in San Leandro. She said <br />this signals the beginning of clean-up in an area of San Leandro that has been <br />ignored for Borne time. She further noted the Post Office will be mailing a <br />postcard to everyone in the zip code area of 94578 to inform them of a <br />community meeting to be held on June 24, 1999, at Jefferson School. The <br />postcard will indicate the time the meeting will begin. <br />Mayor Young echoed the comments regazding various Arts events that took <br />place this last weekend. She congratulated Elaine de Coligny for her efforts on <br />the Art Reach event which benefited the Shelter. She concluded by reporting <br />on her attendance and participation in the recent Women in Golf Event and her <br />attendance at the Babe Ruth Baseball Opening event. <br />
