(2879)
M/S/C Lothrop and Loeffler. Ayes: 5; Noes: 0; Absent: Galvan and
Nardine
D. Matter of Amendment No. 3 to the Council Members' Handbook, Adding
"Guidelines for the Mayor and City Council Travel" to the Reference Section.
Since two members of the City Council are not present at the City Council
Meeting, Mayor Young suggested this item be tabled.
The following Motion was then introduced:
-- Minute Order No. 99-74, Matter of Amendment No. 3 to the Council
Members' Handbook, Adding "Guidelines for the Mayor and City Council
Travel" to the Reference Section. (2850)
The City Council indefinitely tabled the matter of an amendment to the
Council Members' Handbook, adding "Guidelines for the Mayor and
City Council Travel."
M/S/C Loeffler and Lothrop. Ayes: 5; Noes: 0; Absent: Galvan and
Nardine
Council Member Glaze, as a member of the Rules Committee, suggested this issue
not be returned to the City Council Rules and Communications Committee, again.
He indicated this item is not one that all City Council Members can agree upon;
and it would be best dealt with by the entire City Council, rather than the
Committee trying to determine what it is that specific Council Members do not
support in the policy, based upon various feedback.
City Council discussion ensued regarding basic issues with the guidelines, such as,
which conferences should be attended and incorrect statements made within the
policy relating to mileage reimbursement and parking. The City Council
questioned the need to bring this issue back at all.
