Minutes -City of San Leandro City Council and Page 13 <br />San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting -December 6, 1999 <br />C. Matter of Discussion of Fireworks Ordinance. No Action (2449) <br />Vice Mayor Galvan recommended to the City Council that they consider waiving <br />the City's Fire Works Ordinance in light of the upcoming New Year's Celebration <br />for the year 2000, as it would afford non-profits within our community an <br />opportunity to benefit from sales for the Millennium. <br />Alter a brief City Council discussion regarding issues such as the affects on schools <br />and students, the lack of this issue being pushed by community-based <br />organizations, and the erects of alcohol in conjunction with the use of fireworks, <br />there was no support to overturn the existing Ordinance. <br />D. Report on Closed Session Actions Taken. <br />None <br />9. CITY COUNCIL COMMENTS <br />A. Council Member Lothrop commented on her attendance at the National League of <br />Cities Conference where she and the Mayor attended an informative meeting on <br />noise issues; she thanked the various Commissioners for joining the City Council at <br />the Conference; she acknowledged Suzanne Sneddon's 50th year in maintaining <br />the Alta Mira Club. She concluded by stating that Walnut Avenue is in need of <br />street paving. <br />B. Council Member Loeffler reported on his attendance at the National League of <br />Cities Conference and acknowledged the attendance of various Board and <br />Commission Members. He invited those Board and Commission Members who <br />attended to be present at the City Council's Work Session on December 13 and to <br />provide feedback to the City Council during public comments. <br />Council Member Loeffler commented on his desire to get an update on the <br />Assisted-Living Complex proposed at Clarke and Davis and said he has not yet <br />seen a report regarding requested information on the fence issue behind the <br />Hollywood Video Store. <br />C. Council. Member Nardine commented that, although the John Muir Pool issue is <br />listed on the "Pending Work Sessions List," the City would need to receive the <br />plans before a Work Session is held. She requested that this be referred to the <br />next City/School Liaison Committee Meeting. <br />D. Vice Mayor Galvan indicated he has been receiving phone calls from residents who <br />live by the BART Station and indicated that area needs greater parking <br />enforcement. <br />
