Resolution Approving Employment Agreement for City Manager, John J.
Jermanis.
Council Member Grant commented on how hard the City Council worked toward
getting a workplan in place for the City Manager. She indicated this contract and
workplan provides a needed measurement tool for the City Council to evaluate the
City Manager.
Mayor Young noted the City Council has never had a formula by which to
measure the performance of the City Manager. She indicated the City Council has
spent the last year discussing this very item. She noted San Leandro has had a
great history with City Managers, who have contributed to the City of San
Leandro accomplishing a great deal over the last few years. She indicated her
support for the City Manager's contract, stating it is within the range of other City
Managers throughout the County. She commented about the recent article in the
Daily Review comparing Mr. Jermanis' contract with that of the City Manager of
Hayward and others. She said the article was not entirely accurate in its quest to
compare "apples to apples."
