Matter of the San Leandro Redevelopment Agency's Submission of the Final
Report of the Citizen Advisory Committee for the West San
Leandro/MacArthur Boulevard Redevelopment Survey Area (accepts the final
report of the Citizen Advisory Committee for the West San
Leandro/MacArthur Boulevard Redevelopment Survey Area and directs staff
to undertake the required planning studies and develop a process for
conducting elections for a Project Area Committee).
June Catalano, Director of Development Services, gave a brief overview
of the matter, and Debbie Potter, Redevelopment Administrator, went over
the report in greater detail. Debbie Potter also introduced the members
of the committee who were present.
Jeff Starkovich went over the stakeholder issues and thanked June
Catalano and Debbie Potter for their time and effort in educating the
Committee.
Council Member Young inquired if the studies outlined would require
experts. Staff responded it would, and it would be more cost effective.
It was also noted the City will recoup costs once the tax increments
come in.
Council Member Young also asked questions regarding the proposed
election process to elect the Project Area Committee (PAC). Staff noted
the details will be worked out over the next few months, and staff will
come back to the Council with a plan to conduct the election for the
Project Area Cormnittee.
Vice Mayor Loeffler commended the Committee and the staff for a much
more inclusive process. He voiced an interest in including the other
real estate agents that have served the MacArthur area and noted they
should be included as stakeholders. He also noted he would like to see
transportation of young people to City services, perhaps by shuttle,
included in the issues to be reviewed.
