PUBLIC COMMENTS
Public Comments are limited to 5 minutes per person. The public is invited
to make any comments related to Agenda items, or other items of public
interest, at this time.
A. Ann Hague, commended all the candidates that ran in the recent election
and congratulated those who won. She also commended those who lost the
election. She stated she is sorry to hear June Catalano is leaving the
City. She continued by commenting that the Estudillo Homeowners'
Association is concerned with how the vacancy in District 2 will be
filled for the remaining, two-year term. She noted they would like to
see the matter on the November ballot to have the citizens of San
Leandro elect the candidate of their choice.
B. Al Rosenga, 534 Parrott Street, addressed the Council regarding Item "I"
on the Consent Calendar. He asked for and received clarification on
where the bus stops would be and that the post office boxes will not be
moved, as well as the bus route on West Juana.
C. Howard Beck, Resident of San Lorenzo, addressed the Council regarding
the pending lawsuit with the Port of Oakland regarding airport noise.
He noted the implications of negotiations with the Port of Oakland with
regard to the EIR are inadequate. He asked that the Council not lose
sight of the nature of the suit. He further commented that airport
noise is a regional problem, and it is not an issue between communities.
There is a need to work together to work toward a regional solution.
D. Justin Agrella, 1231 - 143rd Avenue, addressed the Council in support of
reserve funding for senior citizens to defer fee increases in trash
removal and street sweeping. He feels these services should be a
publicly bid process.
E. Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, addressed the Council, stating
that, in all the budget proceedings he has witnessed, this is the worst
presentation. He commented on street-sweeping and water-run-off fees
and questioned the necessity for them. He noted the 54M increase in
this year's budget from last year's and stated the taxpayers are
subsidizing other taxpayers. He feels this issue should have to go on
the ballot for voter approval. In conclusion, he added that this last
election was the dirtiest election he has ever been involved with.
