(1156/2047) <br />The City Council changed the "Term" from two years to "Indefinite" far <br />appointments to the Alameda County Waste Management Authority and the <br />Council for the Prevention of Drinking and Driving. <br />M/S!C Grant and Glaze. Ayes: 6; Noes: 0; Absent: Lothrop <br />-- Minute Order No. 98-76 Matter of Change in Term and Appointment to <br />Intergovemmental Agencies. (1156/2528) <br />The City Council appointed former Council Member Julian P. Polvorosa as the <br />"Community Representative" on the Council for the Prevention of Drinking and <br />Driving. <br />M/S/C Loeffler and Glaze. Ayes: 6; Noes: 0; Absent: Lothrop <br />B. Resolution Approving Exercise of Lease Option for City-Owned Property Located at 2850 <br />Marina Boulevard and Acknowledging the Merger of Tele-Communications, Inc. (TCI) <br />and AT&T (exercises a 10-year extension of the lease option at 2850 Marina Boulevard to <br />TCI). <br />Council discussion ensued regarding the request for the lease option extension and the <br />acknowledgement of the merger with AT&T. Issues were raised regarding the need to <br />bring our public access channel up to speed, the need for additional services throughout the <br />City, as well as exploring the service provisions for both school districts. <br />The City Attorney noted the Council does not have to act on this issue tonight but would <br />need to act by mid January. It was also suggested the Council defer the matter to January <br />and ask asub-committee of the Rules and Communications Committee review the issues, <br />come up with some specific items to negotiate, contact the school districts for their input, <br />and bring their recommendations back to the full Council. <br />
