CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />STAFF REPORT <br />DATE: May 11, 2009 <br />TO: City Council <br />FROM: Measure WW Ad Hoc Committee <br />Vice Mayor Starosciak, Councilmembers Gregory and Souza <br />VIA: ~~x f~~Hollister, City Manager <br />BY: Jacquelyn Diaz, Interim Assistant City Manager <br />SUBJECT: Measure WW Ad Hoc Committee -Summary and Recommendation <br />The report below provides a summary overview of notes taken from each Ad Hoc meeting, as <br />well as a recommendation for consideration by the City Council. <br />Attendance at all meetings included the Council Ad Hoc members, City Manager Steve <br />Hollister, Interim Assistant City Manager Jacqui Diaz, Recreation and Human Services Director <br />Carolyn Knudston, Public Works Services Director Mike Bakaldin, and Engineering Director <br />Uche Udemezue. Member Starosciak agreed to serve as Chair. <br />Januat-y 29, 2009 <br />The members met and discussed the purpose and scope of the Measure WW Ad Hoc Committee. <br />They requested staff to return with background on previous EBRPD funds and projects. <br />Engineering and Transportation Department Director Uche Udemezue outlined the grant process <br />and immediate need for the adoption of a resolution and a signed master agreement in order to <br />move forth with the application process. A summary list of current CIP parks projects was <br />distributed for background. Staff was directed to return with additional background information. <br />By consensus, it was agreed to move forward with the resolution, agreement, and to apply for <br />funds over the next few years' funding cycles. <br />February 9, 2009 <br />Engineering Director Udemezue provided an overview of the Measure WW application process; <br />all will come forth at the February 17, 2009 City Council meeting. A CIP top ten exercise will <br />occur at the upcoming City Council retreat on February 28th, which can help provide the <br />committee some feedback regarding the use of funds. There was a clarifying discussion on the <br />types of funding sources available for parks projects. The discussion included the CIP process, <br />including the Finance Committee and the Facilities Committee. There was a simple consensus to <br />direct staff to look into the park pathways improvement project; Washington Manor Pool; <br />Marina Park picnic area renovations; and the Par Course renovation project. It was <br />recommended that the City apply for $250,000 for the current year, in order to get the park <br />pathway project started. <br />
