ACTION ITEMS <br /> <br />Public comments are limited to 3 minutes per speaker per item, subject to adjustment by the <br />Mayor. <br /> <br /> <br />A.Presentation on City Fiscal Year 2009-10 Proposed Budget. <br /> <br />City Manager Hollister gave an overview of the budget presentation, and commented on <br />the challenges of balancing the budget. Mr. Hollister requested direction from the <br />Council on the proposed budget. He announced that the Council will hold a public <br />hearing on the adoption of the budget at its regular meeting on June 1, 2009. <br /> <br />Interim Finance Director Perry Carter gave a PowerPoint presentation, providing an <br />overview of the proposed FY 2009-10 General Fund budget. <br /> <br />Mayor Santos expressed appreciation to staff and the Finance Committee for their work <br />in developing the budget. <br /> <br />Councilmember Prola expressed concern that the budget is based on revenue projections <br />that may not be realized. He commented that it is the Council <br />. Councilmember Prola noted that there are difficult budget cuts <br />that the Council does not want to make; however, they must be made. <br /> <br />Mr. Carter commented that the failure of the measures on the May 19, 2009 Statewide <br />special election ballot may result in an additional $1.8 million impact <br />budget. <br /> <br />Mayor Santos suggested that the Council contact its State legislative representatives, to <br />protest the taking of local revenues by the State. There was consensus of the Council to <br />do so. <br /> <br />Councilmember Stephens asked if the Park Development Funds earmarked for a new <br />Downtown Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) park could be used instead to keep <br />Farrelly Pool open for a year. Ms. Williams indicated that there are restrictions on Park <br />Development Funds, and that staff would research whether they could be used for that <br />purpose. Councilmember Stephens requested that staff examine ways that the City <br />might continue operating Farrelly Pool. <br /> <br /> <br />
