Fiscal Impact
Indicating Johnson Controls as a sole source for building maintenance systems in and of itself
has no fiscal impacts. Currently, there are no funds allocated for retro-fitting current building
systems. Staff anticipates phasing in the retro-fitting of existing City buildings as funding
permits. Current plans are to include a request for funding in the Energy Efficiency and
Community Block Grant application that is due for submittal to the Department of Energy on
June 25, 2009.
Once put into use, the Public Works Department believes that this product will provide for
improved building energy efficiency, as well as providing a system that is scalable to the City's
specific needs, is flexible and provides the City with many options for participating vendors.
Budget Authority
Not applicable.
CONCLUSION
It is recommended that the City Council approve a Resolution allowing the use of a sole source
contract agreement with Johnson Controls for building management systems.
