Councilmember Souza. commented that there was not <br />a recommendation to the Finance Committee to increase the fee at Manor Pool to <br />$7. Mr. Hollister indicated that the recommendation would be to increase the fee <br />at all Ciry pools to $5. Councilmember Souza stated that she would like to see the <br />fee for the Boys & Girls Club pool remain at $4. <br />Vice Mayor Starosciak stated that she did not believe increasing pool fees was a <br />good idea, and she supported Councilmember Souza's recommendation to <br />redistribute the $250,000 Self Insurance Fund transfer to both libraries and <br />recreation programs. <br />Mr. Hollister suggested that this matter could be brought back for Council <br />consideration. <br />Recommendation for City Council Consideration: <br />a. Approval of increase in recreational swim fees and for Farrelly Pool to <br />remain open with reduced hours. <br />By consensus, the City Council agreed to consider the matter of <br />recreational swim fees at a future City Council meeting. <br />12. CITY COUNCIL COMII~NTS <br />Vice Mayor Starosciak commented that she attended a ribbon cutting for the San Leandro <br />High School (SLHS) parking lot, which is a "green" parking lot. Vice Mayor Starosciak <br />described a combination of funding to preserve Flex Shuttle service, including minimum <br />service grants, ACTIA stabilization (gap) funds, and local streets and roads funds. She and a <br />representative from Assemblymember Hayashi's office met with the Senior Commission, and <br />the Commission was supportive of this funding strategy. Mayor Santos commented on the <br />competition for paratransit funds from ACTIA. <br />Councilmember Prola announced that a rally will be held tomorrow at San Leandro Hospital <br />regarding the potential closure of the hospital. He attended both Shoreline-Marina Town Hall <br />meetings; the meeting on the I-880 HOV lane and Davis and Marina overcrossings, which he <br />described as a difficult meeting; and the ribbon cutting for the SLHS parking lot. <br />Councilmember Prola announced the birth of his granddaughter, Serena Aurora Prola, on <br />May 22nd. <br />Councilmember Stephens commented on the State's budget outlook, and stated that he looked <br />forward to seeing everyone at the Cherry Festival. <br />Councilmember Souza agreed with Vice Mayor Starosciak's comments regarding funding for <br />the Flex Shuttle.
