MINUTES Page 13 <br />City of San Leandro City Council, San Leandro Parking Authority, San Leandro Public Financing Authority, and San <br />Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting~Tune 1, 2009 <br />Association neighborhood spring social, which was well-attended. Councilmember Souza. <br />mentioned the upcoming League of California Cities Budget Action Days. <br />Councilmember Gregory reported that he attended the recent Bay-O-Vista Homeowners <br />Association meeting. He reported on an informal bike ride in District 5, which attracted about <br />50 riders. He stated that he would ensure the City Manager and Interim Police Chief are <br />aware of future rides, and that the rides are conducted in a responsible manner. <br />Mayor Santos reported that he attended the I-880 HOV lane and overcrossings community <br />meetings, and a meeting on the state of Fremont Bank and the economy. He watched Willard <br />Bolado, who constructed an eagle kite with a 12-foot wingspan, fly his creation at Marina <br />Park. Mayor Santos commented on the Oro Loma/Waste Management Earth Day program. <br />Mayor Santos read two articles on Mayor Emeritus Jack Maltester from the U.S. Mayor, a <br />publication of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. Mayor Maltester was the 27~' president of the <br />U.S. Conference of Mayors from 1969-70, and demonstrated his leadership by championing a <br />resolution urging the President to withdraw troops from Vietnam. Mayor Santos read a note <br />from the Maltester family, expressing their appreciation to the City for assistance in <br />coordinating the memorial service for Mayor Emeritus Maltester. <br />13.
