Hollister, City Manager <br />Uchenna Udemezue, Director <br />Engineering and Transportatio <br />Keith Cooke, Principal Engine <br />Engineering and Transportatio <br />SUBJECT PROJECT/PROJECT DESCRIPTION: <br />/.. <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND CALLING FOR <br />BIDS FOR THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT (ADA) RAMP PROJECT <br />2009-10, PROJECT NO. 09-165-43-216 <br />This project provides for the construction of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) <br />compliant sidewalk wheelchair ramps at street intersections at various locations within <br />the city. <br />SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends approval of the plans and specifications and call for bids for the <br />subject project. <br />BACKGROUND <br />In 1995 the City completed an ADA transition plan that describes the work required to <br />bring the City into compliance with national ADA requirements. The transition plan <br />states that the City will install sidewalk wheelchair ramps at intersections whenever <br />repair is made to the adjacent street or sidewalk. This project will install a portion of the <br />required ramps. The project is funded by Community Development Block Grant <br />(CDBG) fund. The City Council approved two amendments on July 6, 2009; allocating <br />$250,000 to CDBG funds and $196,000 to Community Development Block Grant <br />Recovery Program (CDBG-R) fund.
