Redevelopment Advisory Committee (RAC) July 13, 2009
<br />Seventy-one applications were received of which three were late and five did not qualify. The
<br />applicant names were forwarded to the Agency in April, and copies of the applications were
<br />forwarded to the Screening/Interview Panel, consisting of Agency Chair Santos and staff from the
<br />City Manager's Office and the Office of Business Development. The panel met on April 27 and
<br />reviewed the applications with the goal of city-wide representation, participation of new and long
<br />term members of the community, individuals who have participated in City committees before and
<br />new people who want to get involved. At that meeting the panel agreed on the property owner,
<br />business owner and housing representatives. The panel decided to interview three to five residents
<br />from each project area since many of the candidates were unknown by the panel. Interviews were
<br />held on May 22 and June 3 and based on the quality of the candidates, the panel is recommending
<br />the following candidates, which includes two at-large residential representatives.
<br />The Business and Housing Development Committee, at their July 9, 2009 meeting, concurred with
<br />the Screening/Interview Panel in recommending the individuals listed below be appointed to the
<br />RAC.

<br />If the Agency approves a resolution, adding the two at-large residential representatives to the RAC,
<br />and Agency ratifies the list of nominees, the new RAC can commence meetings this Fa112009.

<br />Previous Agency Action(s): Redevelopment Agency Resolution No. 200$-24 RDA, adopted
<br />October 20, 2008, approving voluntary formation of the Redevelopment Advisory Committee
<br />(RAC) to serve all of the project areas including West San Leandro/MacArthur Boulevard, Alameda
<br />County-City of San Leandro, Plaza Redevelopment Project Areas.
<br />City Council Committee Review and Action: At the July 9, 2009 Business and Housing
<br />Development Committee meeting, the Committee concurred with the Screening/Interview Panel's
<br />recommendation regarding RAC membership.
