MINUTES Page 4 <br />City of San Leandro City Council and San Leandro Redevelopment Agency Joint Meeting~Tuly 6, 2009 <br />Newly-appointed Human Services Commissioner Corina Lopez took the Oath of Office <br />administered by City Clerk Marian Handa. <br />D. Presentation on San Leandro Education Foundation (SLED). <br />Deborah Cox, President of the San Leandro Education Foundation (SLED), gave a short <br />PowerPoint presentation. The presentation provided information on SLED, its mission, <br />focus, and funding sources. Ms. Cox announced SLED's fundraising program, "Eat <br />Out for Education," which will be held the first Wednesday of every month at local <br />eateries. <br />E. Proclamation Declaring the Months of July and August 2009 as a "Soda Free Summer" <br />in San Leandro. <br />Councilmember Gregory accepted the "Soda Free Summer" proclamation presented by <br />Mayor Santos. <br />F. Proclamation Declaring July 2009 as "Parks and Recreation Month" in San Leandro. <br />City of San Leandro Recreation and Human Services Director Carolyn Knudtson <br />accepted the "Parks and Recreation Month" proclamation presented by Mayor Santos. <br />G. Video of City of Honolulu's Olympic Day Celebration in Support of Chicago's Bid for <br />the 2016 Summer Olympic Games. <br />A video was shown of Honolulu's Olympic Day Celebration. Mayor Santos stated that <br />all U.S. cities have been asked to adopt a resolution, supporting the City of Chicago's <br />bid to host the 2016 Olympic Games. The City of San Leandro will host a similar <br />Olympic Day Celebration, in conjunction with Councilmember Gregory's September 12 <br />Challenge Walk-Off event. <br />H. Recap of San Leandro Chamber of Commerce's Economic Forum. <br />City Manager Hollister introduced the video, which showed a 5-minute excerpt of <br />Michael Freedman's speech from the recent Economic Forum. In his speech, 1VIr. <br />Freedman spoke about the movement away from the suburban model of development, <br />and the need for the City to be at the forefront of change. <br />3. PUBLIC HEARINGS-CITY COUNCIL <br />Public Hearing Comments are limited to 5 minutes per speaker, subject to adjustment by the <br />Mayor. When you address the City Council, you should fill out a speaker card and submit it <br />to the City Clerk so the order of speakers may be determined and an official record of names <br />and addresses obtained. <br />None. <br />
