CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />OCTOBER 20, 1997 <br />VERBATIM TRANSCRIPT, ITEM 6.A <br />City Manager Jermanis: There has been some earlier discussion on Livermore-Amador <br />Valley Water Management Authority for good reason. There is a long history of City <br />involvement in this particular project and we are fortunate that we have a number of <br />resources that are in the community that reflect on some of the things that have been <br />discussed in the past. Certainly, former Mayor Faria has a good memory on it and we <br />have asked one of our former staff members to come back, Bob Taylor, who has some <br />firsthand experience in negotiations that have occurred over a number of years. Council <br />Member Galvan is the City's representative that serves on the East Bay Dischargers <br />Authority and for a number of years now, the member agencies of the East Bay <br />Dischargers Authority have had discussions with the folks out in the Livermore-Amador <br />Valley to be able to use some of the capacity that we have within our super sewer service <br />or what is known as the East Bay Dischargers Authority where we have a large out-fall <br />line that goes out into the Bay. They have asked that the City allow them to use some <br />of that capacity, for which they were prepared to pay a fee. And, in addition there has <br />been mitigation that has been requested by both the cities of Hayward and the City of San <br />Leandro to recognize the direct impact that a pipeline that would come from the Valley <br />area, over and across the hills and into San Leandro in particular, going down Lewelling <br />Boulevard would have on the community.
