on the median, and on both sides. That was generally the type of mitigation that was
being discussed in the past.
Council Member Glaze: In the agreement it just says -that's my worry, that we
approve something that says "shall provide irrigation and street trees along Lewelling
Boulevard from Washington to Wicks. " And then it also says that they will obtain an
encroachment permit from the City of San Leandro to minimize impacts of
construction.
Bob Taylor: These specifics would be what is negotiated in preparation of a final
agreement. The fact that you authorize Councilman Galvan to vote in favor -it's only
after the final agreement is prepared - he would hear what you are telling him that you
want in that agreement - is the way that I would understand this proceed. In other
words, if you tell your representative that you want Olive trees specifically and you
wanted it in the agreement -then he could have that clause placed in the agreement. In
other words, he would tell that to EBDA, as well as LAVWMA, that the agreement has
to spell that out that specifically. That's what the final agreement will do. You just need
to give the direction as to what you want in that agreement.
Council Member Glaze: We are doing that tonight?
Bob Taylor: That is my understanding - it would be the direction that you are giving
tonight -what you want in the agreement.
October 20, 1997 -Verbatim Transcript, Item 6.A 10
