Minutes - City of San Leandro City Council Meeting Page - 9 -
` November 17, 1997
7. OPEN FORUM
Open Forum is limited to 3 minutes maximum per speaker, 15 minutes total.
A. Lou Filipovich, 15376 Laverne Drive, addressed the Council regarding the
proposed skateboard ordinance. He noted most ordinances are cosmetic in
nature, and he hopes the stipulation of "in specifically posted areas"
stays in the ordinance. He clarified that this ordinance applies to
public property, not private property. It was noted he would have to
post his own sign on his property and enforce it on his own property.
Mr. Filipovich noted there is no private insurance for this for private
property.
B. Roger Ravenstad, 738 Chetland Road, addressed the Council, giving a
brief background on the skateboard park. He noted that San Leandro is
the only one supervising their skateboard park, compared to other cities
that have parks in California. He added that there are a few
skateboarders that don't follow the rules that give the rest a bad name.
He stated he feels one of the barriers is the waiver that is required.
C. Carey Walker, 471 Santa Monica, addressed the Council regarding sound
walls at Mission Bay. He noted that the noise seems to be worse
sometimes, noting it tends to echo off the wall.
Council Member Glaze agreed with Mr. Walker's statement and noted the
sound bounces off the wall, and there needs to be something to absorb
the noise.
8. CITY COUNCIL REPORTS AND COMMENTS
A. Reports on Intergovernmental Agencies
1. Vice Mayor Loeffler reported that there is an Association of Bay Area
Governments (ABAG) Conference, this Friday, in San Francisco.
2. Council Member Galvan reported on recent issues at the Livermore-
Amador Valley Waste Management Authority (LAVWMA), noting the
Attorney from Castro Valley needs a clear definition of
"interruptable."
Mayor Corbett reported on the Waste Management Authority Workshop
last Friday, noting she will provide copies of information to the
Council.
B. Reports on City Council Subcommittees
None
