EXHIBIT A <br />SCOPE OF SERVICES <br />1.0 DESCRIPTION <br />The City of San Leandro has previously contracted with Group 4 Architecture, Inc. for <br />preparation of construction documents for a new library and associated improvements at 1241 <br />Manor Boulevard. The City of San Leandro plans to award a construction contract to perform <br />the work described in the construction documents in March, 2005. This contract is for <br />construction assistance on the project as described below. <br />2.0 BASIC SERVICES FOR CONTRACT ADMINISTRATION SERVICES <br />The Consultant's responsibility to provide the Contract Administration Services <br />under this Agreement commences with the award of the initial Contract for <br />Construction and terminates at the City's acceptance of the construction work. <br />However, the Consultant shall be entitled to Additional Services when contract <br />administration services extends 17 months beyond the Contractors Notice to <br />Proceed. <br />2. The Consultant shall be a representative of and shall advise and consult with the <br />City during the provision of the Contract Administration Services. The <br />Consultant shall have authority to act on behalf of the City only to the extent <br />provided in this Agreement unless otherwise modified by written amendment. <br />3. Duties, responsibilities and limitations of authority of the Consultant under this <br />phase shall not be restricted, modified or extended without written agreement of <br />the City. <br />4. The Consultant shall neither have control over or charge of, nor be responsible <br />for, the construction means, methods, techniques, sequences or procedures, or for <br />safety precautions and programs in connection with the Work, since these are <br />solely the Contractor's rights and responsibilities under the Contract Documents. <br />The Consultant shall not be responsible for acts or omissions of the Contractor, <br />Subcontractors, or their agents or employees, or of any other persons or entities <br />performing portions of the Work. <br />2.1 REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI) & ARCHITECTURAL SUPPLEMENT <br />INFORMATION (ASI) <br />The Consultant shall review properly prepared, timely requests by the Contractor <br />for Request for Information (RFI) about the Contract Documents.
