SECTION 1 -DEFINITIONS OF CERTAIN TERMS <br />Acctunulaxion period -The period under this GFA prior to surrender of t3rFA values. <br />Accumulation Unit - An accounting unit of measure used to calculate the Separate Account <br />values tinder this GFA The value of an Accumulation Unit is determined by the methodology as <br />described in Section 6 (c). <br />Activeprovider -Arty Active Provider of investment and administrative services for the Plan. <br />Adminisia~tive Notice - a formal written notice issued by the Company which is used to clarify <br />ar modify certain. Provisions of the GFA and which will be attached. to and form a part of this <br />GFA <br />EenefitPaymeat -Means a~~ payment to which a Participant or beneficiary becomes efftitled <br />tinder the teams of the Plan. <br />Code -The Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended; or any successor thereto, along wi1i~ $te <br />,r t~~ ~d regulations issued ~hereimder. <br />Comparry - Hartford Life insurance Company. . <br />Contribution.-The amount of the payment made to Hanford Life Instu~ance Company by the <br />GFA Qwner. _ <br />Directed Transfer - A Written Notice, in a form satisfactory to Hartford Life Insurance <br />Company, mQg $ transfer of all or a portion of the assets held under this GFA among the <br />Sub-Accounts available and/or a Relaxed Contract and/or a Participant Iirected Accotmt Option. <br />Employer Directed Account Option -Any Employes directed investment account under lire Plan <br />as identified by the GFA Owner and accepted by the Company. <br />ExclusiveProvider -The sole Provider of investment and administrative services for the Plan <br />Fund -The underlying investment(s) to which Contributions may be allocated under a Separate <br />Account. <br />Creneral Account -All assets of the Compaq oilier than those in ~e Separate Account, or in arny <br />other separaxe investment account established by the Company; if applicable. <br />Good Order -Authorized instruction to the Company that is given with such clarity and <br />completeness that the Company is not required to exerase any discretion, utilizing such forms as <br />$~e Company may require. <br />HLr16553 6 <br />
