IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2004-061 (2056) <br />RESOLUTION APPROVING DESIGNATION OF CERTAIN PROPERTIES ON THE CITY'S <br />EXISTING HISTORIC SITES REGISTER AS CITY LANDMARKS IN ACCORDANCE <br />WITH HISTORIC PRESERVATION ORDINANCE NO. 2003-014 <br />Recitals <br />WHEREAS, in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 4-26 of Title 4 of the San <br />Leandro Municipal Code, the San Leandro Library-Historical Commission has presented to this <br />Council a list of buildings and sites entitled "RECOMMENDED CITY LANDMARKS, CITY <br />OF SAN LEANDRO," dated April 12, 2004, and has recommended that said buildings and sites <br />be subject to the procedure for preservation thereof contained in said Chapter; and <br />WHEREAS, City Landmarks are buildings, structures, objects, cultural landscapes, sites <br />or archeological sites that have a high level of historic or architectural integrity and that hold <br />special significance in the history of the City, region, state or nation; and <br />WHEREAS, designated City Landmarks are governed by City Ordinance 2003-014, <br />which mandates that any proposed exterior change to a City Landmark requiring a building <br />permit (such as alterations or demolitions) be reviewed by the Library-Historical Commission <br />and the City Council; and <br />WHEREAS, designated City Landmarks could be eligible far financial benefits such as <br />the Mills Act and City assistance that are not available to non-designated properties; and <br />WHEREAS, this Council has studied said recommendation, has considered the reasons <br />for inclusion of each site in the list and has received and considered evidence at a public hearing <br />thereon. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as follows: <br />That the attached list of buildings and sites entitled "RECOMMENDED CITY <br />LANDMARKS, CITY OF SAN LEANDRO," dated April 12, 2004 (Exhibit A), is hereby <br />approved and the buildings and sites included in said list shall be subject to the procedure for <br />preservation thereof contained in Chapter 4-26 of Title 4 of the San Leandro Municipal Code. <br />Introduced by Councilmember Santos and passed and adopted this 12th day of April, <br />2004, by the following called vote: <br />
