Goal B: Provide a Suitable Living Environment <br />~:• Community Development Objectives: <br />The Community Development Objectives address the needs identified in the five-year <br />plan, comprising of anti-crime programs, economic development projects and projects <br />for expansion of infrastructure, public facilities, public services, and senior and youth <br />programs. <br />Objective 1: Support public services <br />Activities: <br />• City will fund multiple public service projects for a total amount of $110,000 <br />that will provide services for an estimated 7550 low-income persons. The <br />programs are expected focus on homeless prevention services, homeless <br />services, services for special needs population and RecLink. <br />• An additional $40,000 will be used to fund Landlord-Tenant Counseling <br />services, as indicated under Goal A, Objective 4. <br />Objective 2: Senior Center development <br />Activities: <br />• The City is evaluating potential sites for a new senior center. The feasibility <br />study and site evaluation and potential selection were completed in 2003-04. <br />In 2004-05, CDBG funds will be used for design development, land <br />acquisition and improvements. Money for the project will include reallocated <br />funds from previous year's projects. In order to have sufficient funds for the <br />project, the City will borrow a total of $794,387 from 2005-06 and 2006-07 <br />CDBG grants. <br />Objective 3: Public facilities improvement <br />Activities: <br />• The Cherry Grove Park, Memorial Park and the Bonaire Park renovation <br />projects will continue with their construction work during this program year. <br />The following activities will be funded by CDBG. <br />Action Plan FY2004-05 <br />City of San Leandro <br />Page l7 <br />
