IN THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN LEANDRO <br />RESOLUTION NO.2004-131 (1841) <br />RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE FISCAL YEAR 2004 <br />FEDERAL LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT <br />AND APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS FOR THE <br />SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER (SRO) PROGRAM. <br />WHEREAS, the City and the San Leandro Police Department recognize the continuing <br />need for on-site Police presence in our schools; and recognize that presence as an investment in the <br />future of our community's children; <br />WHEREAS, the San Leandro Police Department desires to continue the School Resource <br />Officer Program for fiscal year 2005-2006, which may be funded from monies available from the <br />Fiscal Year 2004 Federal Local Law Enforcement Block Grant; <br />WHEREAS, the Fiscal Year 2004 Federal Local Law Enforcement Block Grant Funds will <br />not supplant general fund expenditures; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the Chief of Police of the City of San Leandro is <br />authorized, in its behalf, to request these funds from the Fiscal Year 2004 Federal Local Law <br />Enforcement Block Grant. <br />IT IS AGREED that funding continuation of this program is assumed by the Resolution, <br />consistent with the City's Charter, Ordinances and adopted budget, and that the City will establish a <br />trust fund for the grant monies. <br />The City Manager has recommended approval of said agreement. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Leandro does RESOLVE as <br />follows: That said participation is hereby approved and authorized. <br />
