<br />LEAD-BASED PAINT <br />Contractor agrees that all rehabilitation or construction of residential structures with <br />assistance provided under this contract shall be subject to HUD Lead-Based Paint <br />Regulations at 24 CFR 570.608, and 24 CFR Park 35, and in particular Sub-Part B <br />thereof. Such regulations pertain to all HUD-assisted housing and require that all <br />owners, prospective owners, and tenants of buildings constructed prior to 1978 be <br />properly notified that such properties may include lead-based paint. Such notification <br />shall point out the hazards of lead-based paint and explain the symptoms, treatment and <br />precautions that should be taken when dealing with lead-based paint poisoning. <br />SECTION 504-PROGRAM ACCESSIBLITY <br />General Prohibition Against Discrimination <br />No qualified individual with a handicap shall, solely on the basis of handicap, be <br />excluded from p articipation in, b e denied the benefits of, or otherwise be subjected to <br />discrimination by a contractor receiving Federal assistance as part of the CDBG program. <br />Specific Frohibitions Against Discrimination <br />A contractor who receives Federal assistance as part of the CDBG Program, in <br />providing any service, benefit, aid or housing may not, directly or through <br />contractual, licensing, or other arrangements, solely on the basis of handicap: (a) <br />deny; (b) afford unequal treatment; (c) provided ineffective service, benefit, aid <br />or housing; (d) provide different service, benefit, aid or housing; or (e) limit the <br />enjoyment of any right, privilege, or advantage, to a qualified individual with <br />handicaps the opportunity to participate in, or benefit from, the service, benefit, <br />aid or housing; <br />Provisions Re ag rding Communications With Individuals With Handicaps <br />A c ontractor w ho r eceives F ederal a ssistance a s p art o f t he C DBG program shall take <br />appropriate s tees t o e nsure e ffective c ommunication with customers, clients, and other <br />members of the public. Such steps, when appropriate, may include, but are not limited to: <br />Furnishing appropriate auxiliary aids where necessary to afford an individual with handicaps <br />an e qual o pportunity t o p articipate i n, a nd e njoy t he benefits of, a program or activity <br />receiving Federal financial assistance.
