If a child does not have a helmet or did not bring a helmet to the rodeo,
they are provided with a helmet to use on the course. The flyers and all
related promotional materials promote the importance of each bicyclist
bringing their own helmet to the rodeo.
d. Regardless of the reasons, there are many senior citizens whose primary method
of transportation is walking.
Collision patterns of senior citizens pedestrians are different than those of the rest of the
population. Most senior citizen pedestrian collisions occur at intersections while a car is
making a turn.
Safe Moves proposed to conduct twenty (20) senior citizen traffic safety education
programs at senior citizen centers and other community sites including housing facilities.
Presentations will address all issues of traffic safety in an appropriate manner so as to
accommodate the diverse cultural backgrounds of the senior citizens.
The workshops for seniors will address the issues of pedestrian and vehicle safety in an
appropriate manner so as to accommodate the diverse physical limitations and needs of
the participants. Workshops will include explanations of hazards, traffic laws, operation
of signals and preventive techniques to be taken to make motorists more aware of senior
citizens.
The lesson plans for the senior citizen program were as follows:
SAFE MOVES CSA Page 9 of 21
Project No. 120-38-176
