3) Review and Amend Proposed Pedestrian and Bikeway Network and Support Facilities <br />The Consultant will identify proposed pedestrian improvement areas to be included in the <br />plan. Many of these improvement areas can be identified by referring to other City planning <br />documents. The Consultant will identify typical improvements in these key areas. <br />Many of the proposed bikeways in the 1997 Bikeways Plan have been built. The Consultant <br />will review and amend those pedestrian and bikeway segments that have not been completed <br />via the following tasks: <br />a) Describe the various facility classifications using text and graphics. These facilities <br />include Class IMulti-Use Path, Class II Bike Lane, Class III Bike Route, Sidewalks, <br />Enhanced Crosswalks (i.e. bulb-outs, median pedestrian refuge etc). <br />b) Provide a detailed description for each proposed project. This description will include <br />the following: <br />i) A discussion of the improvements that will be needed to implement each proposed <br />project such as road widening, trails along flood channels, bridges, roadway crossing <br />protection, parking removal, bicycle support facilities, changes in striping and traffic <br />signal timing and detection; <br />ii) The length of each proposed project; <br />iii) Estimated construction cost of each proposed project. <br />4) Update Design Standards <br />The Consultant will update the general design standards for bikeway and sidewalk design. A <br />graphic of each of the items and text discussion of how the standards or recommendations <br />should be applied shall be included. These standards will include, but are not be limited to, <br />the following: <br />a) Width requirements for all bikeway, trail and sidewalk classifications; <br />b) Design of bike lanes and trails at intersections; <br />c) Recommendations for bicycle detection; <br />d) Recommendations for stripin ag nd signing; <br />e) Recommendations for types of bicycle parking=placement of bicycle parking, and <br />number of bicycle parking spaces for various development types. <br />f) Standards for typical pedestrian improvements (i.e. bulb-outs, median pedestrian refuges, <br />in-pavement lighted crosswalks, pedestrian traffic signal etc) <br />5) Review and Update Bicycle/Pedestrian Safety and Education Component <br />a) Summary of Bicycle/Pedestrian Accidents -The City will compile a summary of bicycle <br />and pedestrian accidents for years 1999 - 2002. Summary will include primary cause of <br />the accident, and location of the accident. The Consultant will compare this accident <br />analysis with the previous analysis and determine if there have been significant changes. <br />b) List of Existin~Rules and Regulations -The Consultant will provide a list of existing <br />rules and regulations regarding bicycle and pedestrian travel. <br />Contractual Services Agreement Page 6 of 20 <br />Revised 5-02 <br />
