~ i~
Honorable Board of Supervisors Page 2
January 7, 2004
With the final phase of the residential development, Tract 6810, Storm Water Detention Pond 2
(SWDP2) was built. This second pond, like the first pond built with the SWLSDP, was intended
to be a storm water quality Best Management Practice as outlined in the Storm Water Discharge
Permit for the Alameda Countywide Clean Water Program from the Regional Water Quality
Control Board.
Construction of SWDP2 was a portion of the master drainage plan of the residential
development. Storm Drainage from 43 acres of the 64 acres in the residential development is
routed through this detention facility.
It was determined that the Alameda County Public Works Agency was best suited to perform the
ongoing maintenance requirements of SWDP2. The Public Works Agency is now responsible
for the maintenance of SWLSDP.
FINANCING:
There will be no cost to the General Fund. Appropriations in the amount of $25,000 are
available in Fund 21803, ORG 270311 Flood Control Zone 2 in various operating labor and
maintenance accounts. All costs incurred in this effort will be charged back to the City of San
Leandro, where an Assessment District has been established for such residential development.
Yours truly,
O
Donald J. LaBelle
Director of Public Works
DJL/smh
Copy: County Counsel
