shift (s) shall receive a shift differential for the time <br />spent working on such shift(s). <br />It is understood that such shift differential shall be <br />included in the computations based upon the base rate for <br />purposes of overtime compensation, holiday, sick leave <br />and vacation leave pay where the employee has worked a <br />shift which requires payment of the differential, as <br />provided in the preceding paragraph, for thirty (30) days <br />or more. <br />The setting of work hours is based upon the operational <br />needs of the department. An employee's work hours may be <br />changed based upon the operational needs of the <br />department. In the event an employee's work schedule is <br />to be changed; the employee shall be given seven (7) <br />working days advance notice. <br />Section 18. Outside Work <br />An employee's primary employment responsibility is to the <br />job the employee has with the City. Any employee who <br />wishes to engage in employment outside a City position <br />shall first submit a written request to his/her <br />department head and receive approval for same before <br />engaging in any such employment. Such outside employment <br />shall not adversely affect job performance or create a <br />conflict of interest with the employee's City position. <br />Employees soliciting outside work within San Leandro <br />which is similar to that performed for the City shall <br />not: <br />Solicit work on City time; <br />Solicit work which overlaps City work (for example: <br />Private tree work adjacent to City maintained trees); or <br />Utilize City uniforms, or wear clothing which is similar <br />to City uniforms. <br />Section 19. Overtime Compensation <br />Overtime is authorized time <br />worked in excess of forty <br />seven (7) day work period in <br />excess of eight (8) hours <br />work day if longer than (8) <br />21 <br />of five (5) minutes or more <br />(40) hours in a designated <br />the classification and/or in <br />(or the regularly scheduled <br />hours) in the department in <br />
