23.4 For employees retiring prior to March 1, 2002, the City shall contribute a <br />maximum of seventy dollars and eighty-seven cents ($70.87) monthly dental plan <br />costs for each retired City employee who was assigned to a classification <br />represented by the San Leandro Police Officers' Association, and who was a <br />member of the City's dental plan and retired on or after January 1, 1980. Any <br />increases in dental plan costs during the term of this Agreement shall be split <br />equally between the City and the retired employee. <br />23.5 Far employees with fifteen (1S) or more years of City service retiring on or after <br />March 1, 2002, the City shall contribute a maximum of four hundred sixty dollars <br />($460.00) towards the health and dental plans for retired City employees who <br />were assigned to classifications represented by the San Leandro Police Officers <br />Association and were members of the City's Health and Dental Plan. The City <br />will continue its contribution until the employee is eligible for Medicare coverage <br />(at age 65) or reaches age 70. <br />For employees who are eligible for Medicare at age 6S, the City will contribute up <br />to two hundred dollars ($200.00) per month towards the cost of a Medicare Risk <br />Program and Dental Insurance until the age of 70. <br />23.6 Retired employee dependent eligibility for City health plan contribution is <br />conditional upon the active enrollment of the retired employee. If a retired <br />employee moves outside the service area of their medical plan, the retiree will be <br />allowed an opportunity within thirty (30) days of such move to change medical <br />insurance coverage. If a retired employee remarries, the xetiree may add the <br />retiree's spouse to the medical and dental insurance coverage at the City's <br />expense, not to exceed four hundred and sixty dollars ($460.00). <br />23.7 The City shall contribute a maximum of seventy dollars and eighty-seven cents <br />($70.87) per month per active employee far current dental coverage provided by <br />Delta Dental. Any increases in dental insurance premiums during the term of this <br />Agreement shall be paid by the City. <br />23.8 No change in dental plan carrier, or level of benefits shall be made unless agreed <br />to by the Police Officers' Associ~.tion. <br />23.9 The City agrees to continue to provide to employees an Employee Assistance <br />Program. It is agreed that such program shall not be an automatic substitution for <br />appropriate disciplinary action when such action is appropriate. <br />Section 24. Retirement Plan <br />24.1 The City shall continue to contract with the Public Employees' Retirement <br />System to provide retirement benefit programs for the term of this Memorandum <br />of Understanding. <br />24.2 The City's contract with PERS pxovides the 3% @ SO retirement formula, fourth <br />level 1959 Survivors Benefit and the Military Service credit. <br />19 <br />
