w. . <br />f ~ <br />Help fix Oakland's Economy <br />Vote YES on 11/leasures C, D, F & H by July 21 ! <br />Like most cities, Oakland is struggling to balance our budget and fund what matters. <br />A diverse coalition of community leaders has come together to support the ~ measures <br />on the July 21St-2009 ballot #o help fix Oakland's economy, support-our vital public <br />services, provide jabs, and strengthen our future. <br />Please join this coalition, including California State Senator Loni <br />Hancock, Alameda County Supervisor Nate Miley, Business leader <br />George Zimrner, the Alameda Labor Council, and advocates for public <br />safety, seniors, parks, and libraries in voting YES on C, D, F & HI <br />~u. / Measure C ..~ <br />Provides millions every year for the Oakland Museum, Chabot Space & Science Center, <br />Oakland Zoo, and community festivals. Paid for by a small, 3.0% increase in the hotel fee. <br />This measure includes funding to support the Convention and Visitor's Bureau outreach to help <br />strengthen our hotel & hospitality industry and create more jobs. (Although only hotel guests <br />pay this tax, even hotel leaders are supporting this Measure). <br />/ Measure D <br />Adjusts Oakland's budget to redirect several million dollars towards vital services tike police and <br />fire, libraries, and senior services. Reallocates current funding. No tax increases necessary. <br />Changes the formula for "Kid's First" funding to protect vital public services and prov <br />ide fair and predictable funding. Supported by both business and labor leaders, and the Kids <br />First Coalition. <br />/ Measure F <br />Oakland's medical cannabis dispensaries and patient advocates support this Measure, which <br />creates a new business tax category with an increased rate for cannabis dispensaries. Provides <br />vital funding to fill Oakland's budget gap, and help fund essential services, while providing <br />reasonable control and regulation of cannabis dispensaries. <br />/ Measure H :~ <br />Fixes a loophole in City law to make sure properties in corporate mergers pay the same <br />Property Transfer Tax as residential homeowners and local businesses do. Helps fund essential <br />public services. Does not raise the transfer tax, but makes all transfers pay the existing rate. <br />Attention Voters: This is a mail ballot <br />election off. You should receive your ballot <br />in the mail around June 23~d.
